Tell Me a Story And I’ll Sing You a Song…

Hello Albert Drive…we meet at last!

On thursday 27th of October I set up my square of chalk and began singing into the slowly-waking morning of Albert Drive…exchanging songs for stories. I waved at passers-by in their cars and was constantly heartened by reciprocated waves, and even the looks of shock or suspicion that I got in response. From Lynyrd Skynyrd to Ella Fitzgerrald, and I even rapped some Eminem! Layered up in every  kind of jumper, scarf you could name, a lovely lady who lived close to where I had ’moved in’ brought me frequent cups of tea and delicious biscuits throughout the afternoon. I began to hear all manor of stories from the local roof-men who have fixed almost every roof on the street, the haunted house where some-one was apparently once possessed, to James and the Giant Peach in perfect detail and a geo-physisist and painter-print-maker who have been following one another for thirty-five years…
